TDF Grand Depart 2014

En Route of Le Tour Grand Depart 2014

Yorkshire had the very proud honour of hosting the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart, the biggest cycling event in the world.  Stage One on the 5th July 2014 set off from Leeds city centre finishing in the Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate, threading it's way though the Yorkshire Dales and right past our front door here in Fremington Swaledale.  En route, taking in the stunning scenery of Wharfedale, Bishopdale, Wensleydale and our home Swaledale.  With three of our favourite climbs thrown in for good measures namey Kidstones, Buttertubs Pass and on our doorstep Grinton Moor.

Dales Bike Centre - Fete Du Velo

Fete Du Velo was an amazing weekend here at Dales Bike Centre to celebrate and watch Le Tour de France Grand Depart 2014.  With 500 camping pitches and over 1500 spectators spending the weekend here in Swaledale watching the action unfold at the roadside and on the big screen.

What a highlight of summer 2014!

Here's our little gallery of the days events:
