Yorkshire to host 2019 UCI World Road Championships

October 13, 2016

Yorkshire has the proud honour of hosting the 2019 UCI World Road Championships following on from the huge success of the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart and the annual Tour de Yorkshire.
Yorkshire has proud heritage of road cycling, stunning scenery, great roads and great places to stop eat and drink en route.  Here at Dales Bike Centre it's great to be part of that, we're super excited about the coverted rainbow jersey be battled out on the roads of Yorkshire, roads we are riding every time we pull our bikes out.

The UCI Road World Championships is one of the most prestigious events on the professional cycling calendar.
Future UCI Road World Championships:
2017 - Bergen (Norway)
2018 -  Innsbruck (Austria)
2019 -  YORKSHIRE (GREAT BRITAIN)

With 1,000 of the best male and female riders from around 75 countries around the globe will be competing for the chance to win the iconic rainbow jersey.  The event takes place over nine days and includes individual and team time trials as well as full road races for Under 18, Under 23 and Elite riders.

The routes haven't been announced yet but how can the organisers resist a the iconic route of the Tour de France Grand Depart.  Buttertubs Pass then a route down Swaledale to climb over Grinton Moor has to be on the cards? Time will tell.

When is it? We're being asked already, well 2019 for sure.  We are guessing the 1st or 2nd week in October.  .
Can we book to stay at Dales Bike Centre?  Another question we're already being asked, not yet for the 2019 event as we haven't had time to start planning.  But! you can BOOK NOW to ride the Yorkshire Dales and get a heads up on the great riding of Yorkshire, the great food, drink and welcome.  Check out our accommodation page for details and how to book.  Check out our Road Cycling pages for details on the road cycling from our door.
