Swaledale Weekend

A weekend of mountain biking Swaledale in the stunning Yorkshire Dales. The trails here offer the highest concentration of quality bridleways and mountain bike rideable trails anywhere in the Dales. At the nearby village of Reeth the valley splits into the valleys of Arkengarthdale and Upper Swaledale giving lots of options. Both have superb single-track, double track riding and moor land trails to keep you grinning and wanting to come back for more.

Accommodation is 'Bunk and Breakfast with a touch of class' said The Guardian April 2012.  Rooms are split into two and four beds, not your usual hostel type here it's smart, clean and warm. Our purpose built centre is set up to for mountain bikers to have the most enjoyable experience on offer in the UK.  As well as accommodation we have a cafe, bike shop, workshop, secure bike store, bike wash, drying room, laundry, kitchenette, parking and 24hour cake access!

The Riding:

Using our local knowledge of the trails, we've put together routes that are nottoo technical but great to rid.  Big landscapes allow you to get away from the crowds and enjoy some wilderness riding where you'll only see a handful of people all day. The day routes are around 35km with a good handful of ups and downs!

The Guiding:

Our professional qualified team of mountain bike guides have many years of mountain biking experience.  All are CTC 'Technical' qualified leaders, first aid qualified and hold other qualifications in the outdoors.   We will ensure you get the absolute most out of your TechFest weekend, afterall time is precious.  Support is never far away, there's always a support vehicle at the ready to assist with any problems.

The Food:

It's not just about the riding afterall, we know about feeding cyclists, in fact our cafe is listed in the 'Bike Hub' top 20 cycle cafe stops in the UK.  Here we start the day with cerals or porridge, a cooked option and plenty fruit/juice/yoghurt/toast, that'll get you fuelled up.  Evening meals homemade in our professional kitchen served up round the big table, it could be a hearty locally reared beef lasagne, beef stew, roast veg lasagne, chicken sweetcorn pie, roast vegtable crumble or homemade curry.  Deserts are well earned after a days calorie burning out on the trail, homeade banofee pie or warm chocolate browne & ice cream maybe pavlova or seasonal fruit crumble and custard. Lunch stops will be at a local cafe, we believe it's part of the culture of mountain biking and puts much needed money into the local economy.
