Bike Shop Assistant  Manager

Due to recent staff movement we are looking to recruit an experienced Bike Shop Assistant Manager.  Dales Bike Centre is a destination location in Swaledale with great mountain biking and road cycling from the door.  The Bike Shop is integral to the overall business along with a very busy café, glamping pod and bunk accommodation.  A 50 bike hire fleet is a strong element of the day to day operations as well as busy bike repairs/service workshop and a compact retail area stocking many great brands.  Working as part of a small team the role is to further develop and manage the retail element of the bike shop, be sales focussed with presentation and approach.  Deal day to day with the ordering of new bikes, parts and accessories from industry suppliers and distributors.  Booking in of bikes for repair and servicing, management of workshop jobs schedule and ordering of parts working closely with mechanic. Process bike hire bookings and assist customers to having really positive experiences cycling the Yorkshire Dales. The ideal canididate would have bike mechanic experience to assist with repairs, adjustments and set up of bikes during busy periods. We are looking for that person who loves being around people and bikes

Permanent role -  Full-Time
Hours; 8:45am-5:15pm, 5 days/40 hours per week, including one weekend day

Role will include:
General sales, advising customers on sales of parts and accessories 
Manage ordering and stock control of new bikes, parts and accessories with EPOS software
Advising and discussing new bike options, upgrades and custom builds with customers
Discussing workshop jobs with customers, pricing and booking in of jobs
Carry out some bike repairs and adjustments
Answering phone/email/social media enquiries for all manner of Dales Bike Centre enquiries
Process bike hire bookings through web based booking system, assist bike hire customers to be familiar and safe on hire bikes.
Take active role in developing and improving the bikeshop, workshop and hire
Add product and update the shopify based website
General work place house keeping
Be responsible for the smooth running of the bikeshop.
Duty manager when the manager is off or on holiday and assist with the day to day running of the bike shop

 
Essential skills:
Friendly, confident and approachable with excellent customer service skills
Proven experience of bike shop retail
Along with a friendly manner and a can-do attitude, you’ll be working in a small team, so you’ll need to be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to self-manage time and workflow,
Able to advise and sell great products through product knowledge and experience
Computer literate - Booking in workshop jobs, update servicing records, respond to emails, booking in products, social media posts etc.
Be a completer finisher, whatever the task may be, the last 10% of any task is the most important!
Have an eye for seeing a job that needs doing and a tidy approach to working
 

Desirable skills and experience:
Experience of working with Citrus Lime POS
Experience of bike hire operations ideally with Bike Rental Manager software
Cytech qualification
Knowledge/experience of bike brands we stock – Santa Cruz, Cervelo, Trek, Orange,
Experience of visual merchandising in store
Social media experience (from a business POV)
